feast of the holy family

sunday after christmas - we are celebrating the feast of the holy family; gospel reading relates the young christ, about 12, who gets left behind in the temple as his family's caravan returns home. three days later, he's located by mom and dad, who are not amused. after all, they have misplaced the light of the world, who is revealed to be a typical adolescent: hey, no big deal, where did you think i'd be? one of my favorites on the rosary beads, along with the wedding at cana, where mom has to persuade jesus to get on with his mission and just turn the water in to wine already. the weather has warmed, the sun is shining and it's still christmas.
